Beyond customer adoption, Malaysia’s solar transition has also been shaped by public discourse, media engagement and policy conversations.
This is why we are revisiting a June 2022 media engagement, when SimpliSolar’s founder participated in a BFM Mandarin segment discussing rooftop solar adoption in Malaysia. At the time, solar was gaining attention, but public understanding remained fragmented — particularly around affordability, system design and long-term value.
The conversation focused not on promotion, but on demystifying solar at an industry level — clarifying how rooftop solar works, why policy continuity matters, and how mechanisms such as NEM could influence adoption confidence among homeowners and SMEs.
Looking back, this engagement reflects SimpliSolar’s early role in contributing to national conversations about clean energy, at a time when the sector was still finding its footing. These discussions helped frame solar not merely as a technology, but as part of a broader ecosystem involving policy clarity, investor confidence and consumer trust.
As Malaysia’s solar sector matures, the need for informed dialogue remains just as important. While technologies and frameworks evolve, progress depends on clear communication and credible voices that bridge technical realities with public understanding.
Revisiting this moment is not about looking back — it is about reaffirming a long-standing commitment to constructive participation in Malaysia’s energy transition.
