Building Solar Confidence at the Ground Level

Malaysia’s solar journey did not begin with megawatts, policies or national targets. For most homeowners and SMEs, it began with simple, practical questions.

This is why we are revisiting a Facebook post first shared in June 2022 — a time when rooftop solar was still unfamiliar to many Malaysians. Questions such as “Is my roof suitable?”, “How does installation work?”, “What happens after installation?” were common and often unanswered clearly.

At SimpliSolar, our focus then was not scale, but confidence. We chose to engage directly with the public by explaining solar in practical terms, covering building suitability, installation processes, maintenance expectations and cost considerations so that first-time adopters could make informed decisions.

This early, ground-level education mattered. As solar adoption expanded, projects that succeeded were those built on realistic expectations and proper understanding, not hype or assumptions.

Today, even as Malaysia’s energy transition accelerates, these fundamentals remain relevant. Many new adopters are still at the beginning of their solar journey, and clarity remains essential, especially for homeowners and SMEs navigating evolving schemes and incentives.

Revisiting this 2022 post reflects a consistent belief we still hold: solar adoption should be guided, not rushed.
